Back in 2009, I was fortunate to be included in Gibson’s GuitarTown project in Miami—a citywide public art event featuring 10-foot Gibson guitars transformed by artists from all walks of life. I designed and painted one of those giant Les Paul sculptures, doing my best to capture a glimpse of what the new Miami felt like to me at the time.
After the exhibition, my guitar was auctioned off by Julien’s Auctions, and to my surprise and gratitude, it was purchased by the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. I am happy to hear that it still stands in the main lobby of their flagship hotel in Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale, where it quietly blends into the rhythm of that space, seen by visitors from all over the world.
It’s something I still feel thankful for—a moment where art, music, and opportunity lined up in a way I never expected.
If you are at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida please send me a nice photo of you standing next to it so that I can add my new friend to my photo collection below on this page!
